Our Pastor

Our Pastor

Shannon Scott

was privileged to be reared in a Christian home. His mom and dad met at Tennessee Temple in the early ‘60s. He spent the majority of his early years in middle Tennessee. His dad was a pastor for several years, and his mom is a very musical woman—she teaches piano and violin. They are Godly parents.

Shannon said a prayer to receive Christ when he was young, but he did not have peace about his salvation. As a teenager, he began to wander from his Christian roots. In 1989, he went to California in the hopes that he would become a rock star.

However, God had a much better plan for his life. Just like the prodigal, he left the discomfort and stench of the pigpen, and returned home to Tennessee. There, one night, after a discussion with his father regarding the absence of the witness of the Holy Spirit in his life, he became very convicted about his sinful state. Under conviction for three days, he realized he had never seen himself a sinner who needed to repent and confess Christ as his Saviour.

So, after several years of doubt, on Wednesday night, August 19, 1992, when the altar call came, he went forward in church, and he was wondrously, gloriously, and eternally saved! No more doubts! Praise GOD! Glory hallelujah!

A short time later, he returned to California. November 26, 1995, during a church service, kneeling at the altar—he recognized the call to preach. Then, midway through 1996, he met his wife Cecilia while working as Account Executive for a specialty foods distribution company. On December 7, 1996, Cecilia was saved on their second date during a revival in Norwalk, California, where evangelist Joe Boyd was preaching. She was baptized the next evening of the revival. They were married June 28, 1997. They continue to enjoy a very precious marriage.

After much pressure from the Lord, Brother Scott finally surrendered to the call to preach August 1998. He immediately began seeking God's placement for full-time service. In 2000, God answered and made it very clear he was to start a prison ministry in California. For the next three years he saw several men and women receive Christ as their Saviour. Then, in June 2003, he was asked to be the pastor of a church in Southern California. He pastored until June 2009. At that point, Brother Scott founded Wordsmyth Ministries reentering the field of itinerant preaching. He conducted various meetings and spent time counseling, mentoring, and writing books while working with pastors and churches across America.

Then, Brother Scott began praying that the Lord would allow him to Pastor and lead a missions-minded, prayer-minded, spirit-filled, soul-conscious church with an overwhelming desire to fulfill the great commission by supporting and sending missionaries of the gospel. He has a great desire to please GOD!

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." ~ Revelation 4:11

On September 20, 2020, the congregation of Grace Baptist Church in Corona, CA, asked Brother Scott to become their Pastor. Brother Scott and his wife have four precious children—Sabrina (who now attends Bible College), Andrew, Celeste, and Christina. They have been such an important part of his ministry—without them his ministry would not be what it is. God has been so very good to the Scott’s.
